Another Rolland Garros has ended yesterday.
And what a final it was.
Rafael Nadal was once again on a insane game level that ended up giving him his 10th RG Trophy, setting once more a record for the most Rolland Garros wins.
The watch that was pushed to the limit on the brutal 3 sets by Rafael Nadal was a limited edition made in collaboration with Nadal itself.
A RM 27-03 Tourbillon.
And no, it's not McDonald's watch..
You may be confused about the colors, but they were actually picked in homage to Nadal's country, Spain.
This tonneau shaped case is made entirely out of quartz, in a quite big diameter, 50mm to be exact.
And this is where the madness enters, the watch features a tourbillon complication, one of the most fragile and delicate complications in haute horlogerie.
Like almost every Rafael Nadal & Richard Mille model, the model case is made entirely out of Quartz TPT, made of extremely fine layers of silica (45 microns thick) and tinted with resin to create the wavy color effect.
Another characteristic added to improve the watch resistance is the uni-body plate that hold the mechanism, making it more rigid and resistant to impacts.
During the match I could only imagine the force that was being put on the watch itself. Rafael Nadal is known by his insanely powerful and precise inside out forehand, and this immediately popped out question about the watch resistance to powerful hits and speed forces.
But nonetheless, due to the usage of materials like quartz the watch is able to resist and tolerate accelerations of up to 10,000g's without losing it's precision of tracking time.
Its price? £698,000
