In the past few months we’re seeing a lot of brands using a similar strategy to increase value both in brand terms and products.
I’m talking about several major brands doing multiple limited editions over this past few months.
What do I think? I think brands are giving too much importance to creating value instead of building a stronger relationship with their clients.
If you know a little bit about the luxury goods markets, it’s known that most most watch brands are not even in the luxury segment, Rolex for instance does thousands of watches per year. It’s not exclusive, it’s not one-to-one but it’s a premium brand.
It’s like thinking Carolina Herrera is luxury, because it isn't for this simple reason shown above.
We are reaching a time in our consumer lives where we demand to be informed by the brand regarding its product quality and craftsmanship. Nowadays we give much more importance to social media influencers than brands itself. The watches are sold by this social media outlets and online stores.
This leads us to an essential service in luxury, the relation with the client and the selling moment. But how can we establish a solid relation with the client if the client isn't present in reality? You turn the excellency of services to your social media outlets and start to build a network of customized services with more client information.
Brand need to start supporting pages and being more active, and most important making the client feel like they're buying the watch from the watchmaker hands!
Well, I could write multiple pages about this topic, but let's get to the point.
Omega just released their new Seamaster, the Omega James Bond Omega Seamaster Diver 300M 'Commander's Watch' Limited Edition.
In terms of mechanism and casing is identical to the regular Seamasters, it has a ceramic white dial and the bezel is in blue ceramic with Liquidmetal scale.
( The Omega Seamaster features the Omega caliber 2500 movement with co-axial escapement)

There’s not much to talk about this watch other than the color scheme and relation to the James Bond movies.
The first thing that pops out is the the idea that never in the world a ex-SAS and Commander of the Royal Navy would wear such a colorful and flashy watch, at least that’s what I think.
That’s almost like a sniper using a ghillie camouflage and then using a big Rafa Nafal Richard Mille…
But I do appreciate the attention to the detail on the “007” seconds hand and oscillating weight it ends up giving the watch a nice personality and identity.
The Commander's Watch will also be offered in yellow gold in an exclusive limited number of just seven pieces while the steel version will have a production number of 7,007 pieces.
The yellow gold version features a ceramic bezel, white ceramic dial, and Ceragold numerals and markers.
