A few week’s ago I had the chance to have lunch with a great friend of mine and his amazing wife, we were having lunch by Hotel do Chiado, Lisbon with an amazing view over the main streets of downtown Lisbon and the Tagus river.

I’ve personally chosen that restaurant because of it being such underrated and many people don't really know it’s there (You can check our new category Watches & Hotels for more info ).

My friend had the amazing idea of bringing with him (on his wrist ) one of my favorite, if not “the” favorite from Rolex, the Rolex Submariner 116613LB in Rolesor.

I almost immediately felt like a kid seeing its first Ferrari roar, if the lunch wasn't great already it turned out to be even greater.

The 116613LB features a comfortable weight, that combines with it’s look/design, so it's definitely one of those you know that’s on your wrist due to its weight.

The sunburst blue dial is one more thing of the several thing I love on this model, it’s a watch that you can use and abuse, the multiple light effects and reflexes given by the sunburst treatment to the dial allows the user to enjoy it in different moments throughout the day.

I had the chance to use it for a while and to comprove once more that’s definitely a watch to be apart of my collection in the future.

But before we talk about the watch I have to make a statement.

If you’re not a person connected to haute horlogerie or a retailer, please, understand that it’s with this sort of socialization you actually acquire knowledge and some of the most beautiful stories about watchmaking and watches. A great person that I know that i'm proud to call friend once told me this.

As some of you ( I bet all of you ) know, the 116613LB (LB means Lunete Bleu ) a two tone watch with Blue Bezel with gold accents and of course a beautiful sunburst blue dial as I said before.

The 116613LB the new re-issue of the reference 16613 that has been in production since 1988 and it still uses the same caliber, the 3135.That has a parachrom spring that allows a greater resistance to shock and the movement itself is COSC certified.

So it’s for sure a reliable movement made by Rolex the so called “in house” movements.
