I’m going to write this article acknowledging that this topic is running the world in this right moment. Maybe the most discussed watch related topic of this century.

The much and long awaited auction by Philipps happened and in a tough to watch first 7 lots people from all over the world waited for the amazing Paul Newman Paul Newman’s.

After 7 good lots with over the estimated selling prices being obtained we could only hope for a record on the Paul Newman’s.

Surprises after surprises after...

The watch played a big part but today the auctioneer/dealer, Mr. Aurel Bacs, once again managed to share passion, need/necessity and enthusiasm with his engaging ways of speaking.

The auction for this famous lot and amazing Rolex Daytona started with a big surprise, a person named Tiffany bid 10 milion on the opening bid!!! In that moment my mouth dropped to the floor and I knew we were going to reach a record!

Further into the bidding war, Aurel Bacs managed to reach the 15.5 million dollars, 17,752,500 million dollars with commissions

I have to remind you that James Cox, who once dated Paul Newman daughter, was the person behind the selling of the watch, and the money is going for a charity institution.

Back to the enthusiastic auction I will personally keep you posted throughout the day about the remaining lots.

At the moment here are some of the final prices of some of my favorite lots present on this same auction:

Rolex Padellone Ref.8171 - 603.000 $

Patek Philippe Ref. 565 - 90.000 $

Rolex Oyster Chronograph 6236

Saturday I will write a summary with info and prices about this and more unique watches sold on this auction!

I will definitely keep you posted!

Best regards,

Diogo
